A quiet idea. Coming to iPhone.

Some thoughts
need a little
room.

The idea on your walk. The feeling you can’t quite name. The thing you don’t want to forget.

Speak it into Underscore. Find the thread, put it into words, and keep what matters.

A voice-first writing app. At your own pace.

A little clarity

“Maybe it’s less about doing more,
and more about noticing.”

A place to begin

What’s on
your mind?

Start anywhere. It doesn’t have to
make sense yet.

In your own words

“I took the long way home today. No podcast, no calls. And for the first time all week, I could hear myself think.”

For everything between the lines

Your mind isn’t a checklist.
Give it a page.

Good thoughts rarely arrive fully formed. They turn up mid-walk, halfway through a coffee, just before sleep. Then life gets loud again.

Underscore gives those thoughts somewhere to land. A place to speak without editing yourself, make a little sense of things, and return when you’re ready.

Some parts of life are worth returning to.

A small ritual

From a passing thought
to something you keep.

No blank-page ceremony. Just a place to start.

01 / CAPTURE

Say it as it comes.

Tap the microphone and follow your train of thought. A voice note, a small observation, a beautifully unfinished idea.

02 / CLARIFY

Find what you mean.

Turn your voice into text. Use AI to untangle a thought or shape a draft, with your own words as the starting point.

03 / RETURN

Pick up the thread.

Keep your notes in a quiet library. Revisit an idea, bring thoughts together, or sit down with your week in review.

A closer look

A thought can
become a lot.

A note to yourself. A clearer perspective. The first paragraph of something you’ve been meaning to write.

Here’s how one small thought might unfold.

From a walk home

The long way home

I took the long way home today. No podcast, no calls. And for the first time all week, I could hear myself think.

I wonder how much I miss when I fill every quiet moment with something.

A quieter kind
of app.

A library of your own.

Your notes live on your device, with optional iCloud sync. Cloud transcription and AI process content when you use those features.

No streaks. No catching up.

Some days you’ll have a lot to say. Others, nothing. There’s no score to keep and no perfect way to do this.

A little perspective.

Come back to your notes with fresh eyes. Weekly reviews make room for the patterns and ideas you might otherwise miss.

In the making

Leave a little room
for what’s next.

Underscore is coming to iPhone.
Leave your email, and we’ll let you know when it’s ready.

A few things you might wonder

Before you begin.

When can I try Underscore?

We’re still shaping the first release. Join the launch list and we’ll let you know when Underscore is ready. There’s no public release date yet.

Is this a journal or a writing app?

A little of both. Underscore starts with your voice and gives you room to turn thoughts into notes, reflections, or longer pieces of writing.

Do I have to use my voice?

No. Voice is a natural place to start, but you can also write and edit your notes. Quiet moments welcome.

How does AI fit in?

AI helps transcribe recordings, clarify ideas, and shape writing. Cloud features send the content needed for that request to a service provider. Your own words stay at the heart of the process.

Will it be available on Android?

We’re focusing on iPhone first. Other platforms haven’t been announced.
